Visit ¡Qué Colores! at The ArtRage Gallery 

              ¡Qué Colores! will be participating in a Fair Trade Holiday Shopping Event                               Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10.  

This event is part of the ArtRage Exhibition:  Daughters of Ixchel:  Women Weavers of Guatemala.  The Photography of Mary Lawyer O'Connor

Daughters of Ixchel is a collection of images of Maya women and their hand-woven textiles that brings awareness and understanding of vibrant Maya cultures and the challenges they face. The exhibit is a look into the lives of women weavers from Guatemala and Southern Mexico.

Portrait and documentary photograpy along with text will tell their stories andw ill include original textiles which will be available for purchase.

The exhibition will highlight Fair-Trade and worker-owned cooperatives and the political history of Guatemala where, despite decades of persecution and genocide, Maya weavers nnmaintain traditional methods, patterns, colores and styles that flourish and evolve. 

 The exhibition is November 12, 2011 thru January 21, 2012
